Privacy

OpenNAOE does not track its visitors. It has no user accounts, advertising or tracking scripts, and it sets no cookies; Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set a short-lived security cookie (see below). The only personal information OpenNAOE receives is what you send through the feedback form or by e-mail.

Visiting the site and using the tools

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes the technical data contained in every web request, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. For the same purpose, Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie (see Cloudflare's privacy policy). The author sees only aggregate figures reported by Cloudflare, such as the number of visits per day. Fonts and all other files are served from opennaoe.org, so your browser does not contact any other site, except on the feedback page (see below).

A few settings are kept in your own browser and are never sent anywhere: in the books, whether the contents panel is open and how wide it is, whether you hid the note about reading in landscape, the place you were reading when you followed a link to another chapter, and the words of a search while you open its result there; in the simulation tools, the light or dark theme you chose and, in some tools, whether the contents panel is shown and how wide it is. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Calculators and simulation tools that run in the browser perform all computation on your device. Files loaded into them are not uploaded and are discarded when the page is closed, unless you save them.

Feedback

The feedback form asks for your name and, optionally, your e-mail address, role and affiliation, the page concerned, comments, files of up to 3.5 MB and a link. This information is used to correct and improve OpenNAOE, to reply if you request it, and to acknowledge your contribution as you choose.

Messages and files are sent by e-mail to the author's mailbox; the website does not keep a copy. Cloudflare, which delivers the message, keeps a delivery record, such as the time of delivery and the response of the receiving server, under its privacy policy. To block automated spam, the feedback page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which is loaded from Cloudflare and checks signals from your browser; it is not used on any other page. Messages sent directly to [email protected] are handled in the same way.

Messages are read only by the author. E-mail addresses are never published. Your name appears on the Acknowledgements page only at your request; photographs and videos are published only under the terms accepted in the form; and PDF documents are not published.

Retention and removal

Messages are kept only for as long as they are needed to act on them and to maintain the record of acknowledgements. You may write to [email protected] at any time to ask what information is held about you, to have it corrected, to have your name removed from the Acknowledgements page or to have your message deleted.
