Manoeuvring
Simulates turning circles, zig-zag manoeuvres and straight-course motion with the MMG standard method (Yasukawa and Yoshimura, 2015) in surge, sway and yaw, for a ship with one propeller and one rudder in calm, deep water. After each run it assesses the applicable criteria of IMO Resolution MSC.137(76) one by one for the declared trial conditions; stopping and overall compliance are not assessed. The hull, propeller and rudder coefficients are entered, or estimated from published relations for conventional single-screw merchant ships, and each is labelled with its source. Roll coupling, shallow water, wind, current and waves are not modelled.
- Input
- Ship particulars and hull, propeller and rudder coefficients, entered, estimated from published relations or read from a saved setup. An STL or OBJ hull gives the geometry at the stated waterline; it does not by itself establish the manoeuvring coefficients.
